When can a RE broker refuse to take a listing?

A Real Estate broker has the same right to choose to work with a client the same way a client can refuse to work with them. The difference is that most brokers will lower their standards and work with people they have regretted working with much like some clients feel that way about the Real estate agent or loan officer they used.

Real Estate agents and brokers have another option though to turning away a client or a listing and that is they can refer it to another agent or broker for a 25% standard referral fee paid upon closing of the escrow.

Typically this will occur instead of the agent just plain turning the client away.
