A discharge will be filed by the lender at the time the funds have cleared to pay the mortgage loan in full. It may be sent to you for recording, but it is most commonly sent to the recording entity—usually the County Registry of Deeds. In Vermont, Connecticut & select areas of North Carolina, it will be at the town clerk’s office. The holder of the mortgage will also send the paid in full promissory note and the mortgage deed that has been discharged. It may take a few weeks for this to occur depending on the volume of recoding documents.
You do not need to notify anyone.
