our mother passed in 2006; we did not know but her name is on a mortgage. Bank wants to forclose; said it would ruin our credit. We want nothing to do with the property. The deed is in someone elses name. How can we relinquish any interest in the property and not have our credit ruined?

Rick I am a little confused regarding the situation because it doesn’t seem like you are on the actual loan. If you are not on the loan, they only thing that could happen is they could take the property through foreclosure proceedings. Did you assume the mortgage, or something?
