You probably want/need to get HO-6 coverage, rather than renter’s insurance. You want to cover damage to the unit itself from fire/tornado/etc, rather than the actual stuff in the unit (that’s owned by your tenant). If you have homeowners' insurance on your primary residence, start with your current agent (if you’re happy with him). If not, can obtain policy from anyone you wish. If you have a mortgage on this unit, recommend getting coverage ASAP since the blanket policy for the condo complex does not cover the inside of your unit, and you would personally be liable for mortgage even if unit were damaged/destroyed!

I own a condo and have it rented. Where should I get renter’s insurance?
