In many cases you can get a loan or mortgage while you are in the Chapter 13 repayment program. The answer is it all depends on what your credit was like beforethe Chapter 13, how you have repaid your creditors durring the chapter 13 and what your income is like now. Can you afford the new obligation?

If your credit was decent before the Chapter 13 and you have made payment for 12 months and you can afford the new payment your bankruptcy Trustee can OK your applying for new debt during the bankruptcy repayment.

If you have successfully completed the repayment program and have the income / means to afford the new obligation you should contact a lender and begin the application process… You do not need to wait.
